Lacewing Butterfly (Cethosia bilbis)

The underside of the Lacewing Butterfly has a spectacular pattern of brown, orange, red and ivory, giving the Species its common name. The Adults flash bright warning colors as they fly erratically.

As with other species in the brush-footed family (Nymphalidae), these Butterflies appear to only have four legs instead of the normal six, the front pair being greatly reduced. These are held up against the mouthparts and are brush-like on the males.

Lacewing butterflies can also be found in Penang hill as well as Entopia Butterfly Farm.
